Funfair

The funfair, complete with thrilling rides by Chetty’s Funfair, offered entertainment for all ages. Attendees enjoyed a range of exhilarating attractions, along with various food and drink stalls that added to the festive atmosphere. Bonny Fourie, one of the coaches of the Durban Crest Majorettes, shared that although the event started slowly on Friday, attendance quickly surged, with the community showing up in large numbers to support the cause.

Family Benny Potgieter, Kian Potgieter, Luché Potgieter and Marie Kempen came to spend some family fun time at the Durban Crest Majorettes and Harlequins funfair.

Fourie expressed her appreciation for the community’s support, emphasising that the funds raised are essential for the team’s upcoming trip to Cape Town this month. Currently ranked fourth nationally, Durban Crest aims to secure a top-three finish at the national competition in South Africa. “Harlequins Sports Club will utilise their share of the funds to enhance their facilities, ensuring continued service to the community,” she noted.

KZN Champions

Adding to the event’s success, Fourie proudly announced that the Durban Crest Majorettes competed in the KZN finals during the first weekend of the funfair and emerged as KZN Champions, taking first place in all their categories. “We are deeply thankful for the community’s support, and we are excited about achieving even greater milestones together. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to making the funfair a huge success,” she added.
