Yellowwood Park Primary members shine in France

The team competed in a series of events for the International Association for Majorettes World Championships of Majorette-Sport, claiming 11 gold medals.

THREE coaches and three learners from Yellowwood Park Primary School recently demonstrated their talents on a global platform by competing as part of the South African National Team at the International Association for Majorettes World Championship of Majorette-Sport in France from July 18 to 21.

Cate d’Offay, one of the team members, shared her pride in their achievements. “Six members from Yellowwood Park Primary School, including us three coaches, made it into the Nationals Team,” she remarked.

The South African team featured athletes from KwaZulu-Natal, Free State and North West competing in various categories in both junior and senior divisions. The juniors participated in mini-mix, banniers, baton group, baton defilé, pom defilé and pom stage while the seniors competed in mini-mix, mini-mace, pom stage, pom defilé, mini-pom and banniers.

The team’s outstanding performance resulted in an impressive collection of medals: 11 gold, 13 silver and 7 bronze. d’Offay reflected on the experience, saying, “The trip was a dream come true for the young athletes. It was memorable and something we can all be proud of. Representing your country on an international stage is truly remarkable and such a privilege.”

This accomplishment not only showcases the dedication and hard work of these members but also brings great pride to Yellowwood Park Primary School and the entire community.
