Coordinated by Kyle Munsami and administered by Devi Naicker, the market’s mission was to uplift the community by providing a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and products.

The market featured a wide array of stalls, including home and garden items, food stalls, a tea garden, fresh produce, manicure and pedicure services, massages, clothing, face painting, toys and gifts. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was a live band, which delighted attendees of all ages.

Munsami remarked, “The market’s atmosphere was lively, with families feeling safe to spend a few hours out of their homes, browsing stalls, enjoying music and supporting the community by purchasing reasonably priced items.”

He noted that the market was a resounding success, receiving positive feedback from vendors and a steady stream of visitors. “We are thrilled with the turnout and the support from the community. It shows that there is a real demand for a local spot where families can relax, enjoy, and support local businesses,” said Munsami.

He explained that the market was born out of a desire to provide opportunities for people in Yellowwood Park and surrounding areas to become self-sufficient and generate income. “With high unemployment rates, particularly among young adults, the market offers a stepping stone towards entrepreneurship, creating a ripple effect of opportunities,” he added.
