An admin clerk at Merewent Cheshire Home by day, Kerrypops is now ready to take her musical journey to the next level.

Music has always been a significant part of Kerrypops’ life, a passion she attributes to her mother. “My mom used to sing to me and my younger sister before bedtime. Growing up, my sister and I would use our hairbrushes as microphones and broomsticks as mic stands to have mini-performances for each other,” she recalls.

As Kerrypops grew older, her talent became more apparent to those around her. “My sister and close friends started telling me that I have a good voice. One day, a friend invited my sister and me to a nearby pub to play pool, only to trick us into attending the Karaoke night there,” she says.

This unexpected experience was a turning point for Kerrypops. They had fun singing together, but someone asked her to perform a specific Mary J Blige song solo. “I was hesitant at first but eventually took the risk and did it. It blew everyone away. That night gave me the confidence I needed to take on any stage,” she shares.

While music has always been a passion for Kerrypops, she never envisioned it as a prime career due to her family and other life commitments. However, with her children now grown, she is open to exploring where her music journey can take her.

Kerrypops will be one of the performing acts at the upcoming Ubuntu in the Park – Tribute to Hamish Kyd in Newlands on August 4. This event marks a significant milestone and growth opportunity for her evolving music career.
