Firefighters inspire and educate Merebank school learners

Learners were treated to a demonstration of how the various firefighting tools are used and how they can be safe in the case of a fire.

THE learners of Super Stars Educare and Aftercare were treated to an exciting and educational experience recently, thanks to a visit from local firefighters from the eThekwini Fire Department on July 16.

The event was a significant part of the school’s commitment to community engagement and safety education.

Jyothi Chandra from Super Stars Educare and Aftercare said the visit featured an in-depth fire safety and emergency preparedness session. “The firefighters arrived with a range of equipment and demonstrated its use, explaining the crucial role each piece plays in their emergency response efforts,” said Chandra.

During the session, the firefighters discussed essential topics, such as fire prevention, the importance of having an emergency plan and how to stay safe during a fire. The highlight of the visit was a live demonstration of how firefighters respond to emergencies, which captivated the young audience.

The visit was not only educational but also deeply inspiring for the children, who gained a newfound appreciation for the bravery and dedication of firefighters. The engaging presentation allowed the students to see first-hand the commitment required to perform such a vital role in the community.

The staff at Super Stars Educare and Aftercare were thrilled with the outcome, expressing their gratitude to the firefighters for their time and effort. “It was a fantastic experience for our learners.
