eThekwini warns residents of planned water restriction

Residents of The Bluff, Montclair, Yellowwood Park, Wentworth and Merebank can all expect to be affected by a planned water restriction tomorrow (July 23).

THE eThekwini Municipality has announced planned water restrictions affecting reservoirs supplied by the Wiggins Treatment Water Works Gravity System. These restrictions will occur on Tuesday (July 23) from 08:00 to 16:00.

The City’s Water and Sanitation Unit will close its valves to facilitate an assessment by uMngeni-uThukela Water (UWW) in preparation for a major shutdown in August. This assessment is necessary for the replacement of 1 200mm diameter meters on the gravity bulk pipeline.

During the assessment, the City’s valves will be closed, and the pipeline will be drained to evaluate water flow and ensure safe conditions for meter replacement. This project aims to reduce water losses and improve the water supply to the affected reservoirs.
