The event kicked off at the Engen garage on Tara Road, with runners taking a scenic route showcasing the Wentworth community’s vibrant spirit.

André Louis, representing the Wings Athletic Club, said, “We started at the Engen garage on Tara Road, ran straight down Tara Road, took a left up Amoora Road, then went straight to the top of Amoora and turned right down to Olive Grove. From Olive Grove, we took a right onto Aralia Crescent, ran straight onto Austerville Drive, continued up and over, passing the SPAR Supermarket, and then took a right down the steep descent of Quality Street. Finally, we took another right at the bottom of Tara Road to finish at the Engen garage.”

Louis highlighted the vibrant and energetic atmosphere that permeated the run. “The excitement and camaraderie were palpable. Hearing the cheerful ‘Good morning’ greetings from fellow community members was priceless,” he said.

Reflecting on the event, Louis expressed his pride and joy in the successful turnout and the positive impact on the community. “It was more than successful; it was triumphant. It’s been a very long time since runners have gone through Wentworth, and there’s no better feeling than running through your own community. It served as a powerful reminder that the Wentworth community is more than the challenges we face. We are a vibrant, resilient community with an unbreakable spirit,” he said.

The run’s success has spurred plans for future events, with the Wings Athletic Club aiming to host a community run every month. Dates and details will be provided on the club’s Facebook page, encouraging more residents to join.
