According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 09:43 on July 3 when the individuals entered a business establishment situated inside the mall and held up the staff at gunpoint and demanded cash.

Police spokesperson for Brighton Beach police, Captain Louise le Roux said, upon entering, two of the robbers brandished firearms and instructed the staff to lie on the floor.

“The remaining three robbers proceeded to forcefully open glass cabinets containing a variety of cellphones and other electronic devices. The identities of the perpetrators were concealed with hats and cloths, making identification challenging for the authorities. Fortunately, no shots were fired during the robbery, and there were no reported injuries to the staff or customers present at the time,” said Le Roux.

After swiftly executing the robbery, the perpetrators fled the scene in a blue VW Polo before law enforcement could apprehend them. Le Roux confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with detectives actively pursuing leads and working to identify the people involved.

“Informers have been activated,” said Le Roux, indicating that efforts to gather intelligence and track down the perpetrators are underway.

The incident has sparked concern among local businesses and residents in Brighton Beach, underscoring the need for heightened security measures in the area.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery are urged to contact the SAPS immediately to assist with their investigation.
