This book, steeped in intrigue and emotion, promises to engage readers with its exploration of love, loss and the enduring impact of our choices.

In a synopsis shared by Singaram, The Disappearance of Amy Nel chronicles the tumultuous life of Amy Nel, a woman battling anxiety, depression and a severe gambling addiction. Amid her struggles, Amy finds comfort in Craig, a kind-hearted architect who is also wrestling with his inner demons. Their romance offers a fleeting sense of hope, but their lives soon become ensnared in a tangled web of deceit and theft. As hidden truths come to light and relationships unravel, an unexpected tragedy disrupts their world.

Singaram describes the narrative as a deep dive into human emotion and the lasting consequences of our decisions.

This is Singaram’s second published work. Her debut, Short Stories and Poetry by a South African, released in 2022, received considerable acclaim. It was selected by the Gauteng Department of Education for the high school recommended reading list and is also featured at the Los Angeles Public Library.

Reflecting on her achievements, Singaram stated, “I am humbled by this, and it motivates me to continue writing, knowing that readers around the world are enjoying the fruit of my labour.”

Singaram’s journey into writing began in childhood, inspired by her father, Peter Singaram, a gifted writer and English major. She has been a passionate reader since primary school, and her literary interests were nurtured by her parents, who also supported her involvement in piano, speech, drama and acting. As she grew older, Singaram started writing poetry and short stories, with her passion further fuelled by a second-place win in a local poetry competition in 2018. Her poem, Born to Lead, was published in the Womandla anthology in 2019. Inspired by Toni Morrison’s advice, ‘You must write the books you would like to read’, Singaram decided to publish her works after earning her PhD in Public Health.

Alongside her writing, Singaram is a diagnostic radiographer at a private medical clinic. She holds an MBA and a PhD, showcasing her commitment to both her professional and creative endeavours.
