Tidy Towns Bluff officially green lit

The Tidy Towns Bluff symbol, according to Celeste Thompson, is an acknowledgement of The Bluff being one of only two International Whale Heritage Sites in the world.

THE picturesque coastal community of The Bluff is embarking on a transformative journey with the official launch of Tidy Towns Bluff. Spearheaded by resident Celeste Jacobs, this initiative aims to revitalise public spaces through collective community efforts, promoting both aesthetic and functional improvements.

Tidy Towns is a grassroots project focused on enhancing the cleanliness and safety of public areas. “It’s a community-driven project that thrives on the collaboration of dedicated volunteers, local businesses, the municipality, law enforcement and the business sector. Participants in the initiative are committed to restoring public spaces to clean and safe environments for the enjoyment of both locals and visitors,” said Jacobs.

She added that the initiative invites anyone interested to volunteer their time, skills or services and welcomes donations to support the transformation of public spaces into pristine environments that reflect community pride.

Tidy Towns Bluff has ambitious plans to bring about positive changes. “Our primary goal is to collect litter by organising regular clean-ups in areas identified as needing attention,” explained Jacobs. “In addition, we plan to initiate projects such as beautifying flower beds along our beaches, clearing walkways and stairways and repairing areas within our capabilities.”

The commitment to making a visible and lasting difference in the community is a driving force for Tidy Towns Bluff. “We will undertake any project that can have a positive impact on the community and is within our budget, abilities and available resources. We hope the community will support our cause.”

Jacobs added, “As a proud resident of The Bluff, I firmly believe that our community can uplift our area through the Tidy Towns initiative. The Bluff is absolutely stunning, and with some added care and attention, our area will truly showcase why we cherish living here.”

If you are interested in donating to the initiative, you can deposit into the project’s account at Standard Bank, account number 10224508316. To follow the progress of Tidy Towns Bluff, the community is encouraged to visit their Facebook page at Tidy Towns Bluff.
