Policing sub-forum’s Father Christmas drive brings joy to children

Father Christmas brought joy to 480 children when he handed out goodie bags during a festive drive.

THE Montwood CPF Sub-Forum, together with various stakeholders, held its Father Christmas drive, 2023, in Montclair and Woodlands recently.

Kevin Govender, the sub-forum’s chairperson, said they collected items and put together sweet hampers for the children as well as provided them with ice lollies and refreshments.

“We were able to bring joy to over 480 children in our area. We had multiple stop-and-distribute points, where Father Christmas handed the children the goodies and took pictures.

“The initiative was well-received by all. This will definitely be an annual event that the community can look forward to,” he said.

Govender said they also thanked all the stakeholders that contributed towards making it a successful and enjoyable day.

The stakeholders included the Montclair Crime Eye, 58 Durban Air Scouts, Montwood Ratepayers’ Association, Ward 64 councillor Gavin Hegter, Durban South Security, Blue Security, Montclair CPF and Montclair police.

“The event not only united the community but unified key role-players within the community.”
