Tribute for inseparable couple who leave a legacy at bowling club

Maria and Tom's lives were intertwined so deeply that one could not endure without the other.

A SPECIAL memorial will be held to honour the lives and legacies of two long-standing members of the Wentworth Bowling Club, Tom (89) and Maria Cavanagh (90) who passed away recently, only within days of each other.

Proving that the couple, who shared a deep passion for bowling, could not be separated even by death, Maria passed away two days after Tom, and members of the club will host a tribute and celebration of the Cavanagh couple’s lives at the club on October 14 at 10:00.

The club’s Cheryl Waterman said the couple’s journey toward the eternal embrace began amid health challenges, and circumstances prevented the family from announcing Tom’s departure earlier as Maria had not been made aware.

“Tom and Maria were not just members but they were the heartbeat of our club, earning the esteemed status of life membership through their unwavering dedication and loyalty. Their commitment to each other mirrored the devotion they showed to our club, and it was often said that their lives were intertwined so deeply that one could not endure without the other.

“Their life together was a testament to the profound beauty of shared moments and boundless love. As we mourn their loss, let us remember the countless memories they crafted together, their warm smiles and the love they radiated within our close-knit community. Their lives were a testament to the warmth of friendship, the embrace of community and the beauty of shared moments.

“Their family invites those who knew the couple to join us in commemorating their lives at the memorial. It is in the spirit of their enduring love for friends and family that we will gather at the bowling club to celebrate their memory,” added Waterman.
