WATCH: Robbery victim runs over thief on The Bluff

A woman being robbed at a mall on The Bluff took the law into her own hands by hitting the suspect with her car.

TIRED of crime, social media users praised a woman who ran over the man who robbed her of her handbag at the boom gate exit of a mall parking area on The Bluff, on September 27.

Video footage, which spread quickly on social media, shows two men running towards a silver Toyota Tazz, which had stopped at the boom gate exit of the busy mall at about 10:41.

The perpetrators opened the door of the vehicle when the vehicle became stationary at the exit and grabbed the woman’s handbag before fleeing.

One of them got into the getaway vehicle, while the other, still holding the woman’s handbag, ran across the road in an attempt to escape when the driver of another vehicle disrupted the robbery.

Footage shows the victim driving through the boom gates and heading towards the thief before she drives into him.

According to Brighton Beach Police spokesperson Captain Louise le Roux, no cases have been registered at the station, however, updates will follow.
