Organisations, community comes to aid of home for disabled

Community leaders joined forces to feed residents at home for the disabled.

RESPONDING to a call for help from the Merewent Cheshire Home, various stakeholders joined hands to help ensure that their cupboards don’t run dry.

The home, which is a registered non-profit organisation and a residential facility situated in Wentworth, provides 24-hour care to over 30 adults with physical disabilities, aged between 18 and 59. The home has been rendering services to persons with disabilities for the past 29 years.

Tracey Williams, founder of the non-profit organisation, Wentworths Angels, said she, together with Paul Pillay, founder of non-profit organisation Food for Life Merebank, Dr DK Pillay and other anonymous donors, reached out and assisted the home.

“The minute I received the call, my team and I headed out on the road to assist the home. We have managed to assist the home with much-needed food items, as well as a hot meal on Wednesdays.

“However, they still need as much help as possible. I want to encourage the public and businesses to assist; even if it is a small hamper, it will amount to a lot and make a great difference. I would also like to thank all donors who are on board,” she said.

For more information or to assist, contact Williams on 074 703 1393, or the home on 031 468 1667/079 341 6435.
