Friday, May 26 – Saturday, May 27

The Kloof and Highway SPCA Dog-Box Challenge will take place from Friday, May 26 to Saturday, May 27. The participants will be ‘locked up’ for 24 hours from 12:00 on Friday until 12:00 on Saturday. To show your support for this annual fundraiser, the public can visit the participants on Friday evening in the SPCA’s kennels and enjoy an ice-cold gin and tonic or craft beer, some delicious curry from The Curry Lady and decadent cupcakes from Sweetheart Treats. People can also enjoy fiery entertainment from Gareth Greaves and more as they display their incredible talent from 18:00. Saturday, May 27

The Musgrave Market takes place on Saturday from 09:00 until 14:00 at Berea Park on Stephen Dlamini Road. Visitors to the market can expect to find an array of items on sale as well as live music. Saturday, May 27

THE biggest little show is back in Durban, and 23 stallholders will showcase their creative miniatures at the Westville Country Club on Saturday, May 27 from 09:00 to 16:00. The World of Miniatures Fair, hosted by The Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (DAME), will offer scale models, fairy gardens, fairy houses, model trains, bonsai and dollhouses. Once a year, the association hosts a miniature fair, and they have an exciting theme this year: ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Entrance is R10 for adults and R5 for children, and children under the age of five enter for free. One lucky person will walk away with a beautiful miniature fairy village. Saturday, May 27

Talbot Tours will host a walking tour on Saturday, May 27 from 09:00 – 12:00. The tour centres around the battle for Durban that took place on May 23 – 24, 1842.  The tour will take participants around Glenwood and Umbilo to significant points of the battle, including the lookout park which views the site; the Trekkers encampment and their water source, and the Colonial forces route. The 5km tour will be on foot. The cost of the tour is R300 per person, with coffee at Glenwood Bakery. Meet at the Glenwood Bakery to start the tour. Saturday, May 27

Visit the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse for live racing action on Saturday, May 27 from 11:00 until 17:00. Entry costs R250 per person and R210 for members and a guest of their choosing. The Track and Ball Finishing Post is also open for punters to lounge, socialise and enjoy racing.  Patrons can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the racecourse home straight. There will be a Kids Zone that will keep your little ones completely occupied while you enjoy other activities which will be on offer at the race meeting. The Paddock Flea Market will be up and running. The Harvest and Gin Festival will also be on, with an assortment of gins for patrons to purchase.
