Wentworth woman receives prestigious award

Tyniele was raised in the close-knit community of Wentworth, and despite facing many challenges, she turned to God to help her change her story from victim to victor.

AUTHOR, entrepreneur, singer, songwriter and mum of two, Tyniele Mohan, was the recipient of the Influential Woman of the Year Awards at Sibaya Izulu Theatre, recently.

Sharing her journey and the build up to her receiving the honorary award, Tyniele said she was raised by her grandparents in the close-knit community of Wentworth, and despite facing many challenges, she turned to God to help her change her story from victim to victor. Having written her first book, The Talking Tree, published in 2007 when she was just 11-years-old, Tyniele found that her passion was music and writing.

“When my pen hits the page, that is when the creative magic happens. I wrote and recorded five of my own songs, with one, titled Dance the Night Away, landing on Trevor Williams East Coast Radio Vol 2 CD. I have just written and recorded another song called Girls Night Out, which is set to be released in July. Among my passions, is the need to give back. I work with numerous organisations to provide support and assistance to those who need it,” said Tyniele.

“I am who I am today because of God’s grace and love, and all the great mentors I’ve had in my life. I have been moulded by strong people, mainly my grandmother, aunts, teachers and community leaders who took me under their wing. My husband and sons have been so supportive to me throughout this journey. I’m grateful, thankful and feel honored and blessed to have receiving the prestigious award,” said Tyniele.
