Power outage rescheduled

Areas that will be affected by the outage are Island View, Bayhead, Bluff, Wentworth, Brighton Beach, Jacobs and Edwin Swales.

AFTER much deliberation and high-level engagement between DA leadership and senior eThekwini management, Bluff councillor Zoe Solomon said she was pleased to announce that the electricity outage planned for parts of the Bluff on Saturday, July 2, will now take place on Sunday, July 3 between 12:00 and 16:00.

Areas that will be affected by the outage are Island View, Bayhead, Bluff, Wentworth, Brighton Beach, Jacobs and Edwin Swales.
“Due to the upcoming Durban July Experience, the scheduled electricity interruption has been moved. eThekwini Electricity needs to safely reinstate the continuous 132kV busbar at the Rossburgh substation to improve the security of supply to the area. Therefore, it is necessary to interrupt electricity supply. I received so many calls from reisdents and pulled out all stops to engage with the powers that be, and I am thankful that the change was made. We hope this will be relief for residents. We have to have the repair done as it affects the heavy voltage supply, and we have so many issues with outages. This should help stop these outages,” said Solomon.
