WATCH: Bluff residents rally to clean up

Residents in the community who share the same sentiments of not sitting back and letting Bluff deteriorate have joined forces.

NOT allowing their community to deteriorate, residents from the Bluff have taken it upon themselves to clean-up areas which the relevant government departments failed to clear in an attempt to restore the area to its former beauty. With a host of different spots being cleared by residents, councillor for the area, Zoe Solomon, said she was glad that residents in the community who share the same sentiments of not sitting back and letting Bluff deteriorate, have come together to clear bushes and areas where illegal dumping was rife.

Moira Harper cleaned up the dumping and beautified the staircase leading to Brighton Beach Primary School.

“We love to celebrate the community members who are uplifting the Bluff area. We suffer under crippling service delivery issues and it is encouraging to see residents put their back into it and get the job done. We know that they sometimes have to spend their own money just to clear and clean areas they live in, which does not belong to them, but they do it for the betterment of the community and we appreciate them.

The staircase which leads to Brighton Beach Primary School was cleaned by actively involved residents. The substation area was also cleaned up in a project that took a lot of time and costed residents money but the area is looking great without the bush attracting criminal elements and vagrants. Hats off to all residents who came on board to clean up Bluff,” said Zoe.
