eThekwini Road closures due to flooding

Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads as the rain continues.

THE eThekwini Municipality has taken to social media to release a statement with the list of roads that are closed in the Durban area due to flooding.

In the statement, the City says that the Southern freeway on both bounds to the extreme left lanes are flooded and only three lanes are open to traffic. The N2 by the old airport is flooded on the extreme left lane and traffic is moving slowly. The following Roads and areas have also been affected:

  • Tara Road and Quality Street – Closed and flooded
  • Himalayas Road – Closed
  • Mondi Road – Closed
  • Malukazi Prospecton Isipingo – Flooded
  • UMlazi – Flooded
  • Phila Ndwandwe – Flooded
  • Stockville Road – Closed
  • Stapleton Road – Closed
  • Caversham Road – Closed
  • Crompton Road – Closed

The statement proceeded to say that drivers need to exercise caution in the Bluff areas as there are debris and trees on the roadway. Between Ilfracombe and Umgababa on the N2 the road is damaged. On the N2 both bounds and the M4 the drivers need to exercise caution.
