Municipality offers writers free workshop

Articulate Africa is the flagship literary and art fair for the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Unit.

ASPIRING writers are invited to apply to be part of a two-day writing workshop as part of the eThekwini Municipality’s Articulate Africa programme. The writing workshop will be held on March 30 and 31, with the aim of improving the writing skills of first-time authors.

Two workshops will be conducted in English and Zulu, each accommodating a maximum of 20 successful applicants. Spokesperson for the eThekwini Municipality, Msawakhe Mayisela, said to be considered, applicants must be a first-time writer and be 16 years and older.

“Applicants are expected to submit a one-page letter of motivation outlining why they want to attend the workshop and submit a fictional short story of between 2 500 and 3 500 words,” he added.

Applications close on March 11, at 16:00.
