Meet the new Southlands Sun journalist

Yoshini Perumal

SERVING as a community journalist for the past eight years, Southlands SUNs new journalist, Yoshini Perumal, is geared up to highlight the achievements and celebrations of residents living in the SUNs footprint, while also tackling the various social ills in the area.

The 35-year-old nature lover said she looks forward to engaging with community-based organisations, key role-players, who play critical roles in creating change in communities, as well as residents who wish to be the change they want to see, as she serves as a public watchdog in your community.

“I believe that we all should serve as a tool to re-establish the moral fibre, peace and love within our communities. One of the reasons why I pursued a career in journalism was to contribute to the building of a brighter future for the next generation and I know that this can be achieved by the type of information that I, as a journalist, disseminate to readers,” she said.

With the help of community leaders, residents and those with a vested interest in manifesting a safe and united community, Yoshini added that she will use her skills as a journalist to spark an inevitable change as she shines the spotlight on issues affecting your community. When she’s not wearing her journalist cap, Yoshini dotes on smothering her two sons, Jordan and Drelyn, and her fur baby, Jewel. Her hobbies include baking, swimming and reading, and to unwind, she is often spotted at the beach with Jewel at her side, soaking up the sun.
