School bag search a great success in Wentworth

The operation was done at Umbilo Secondary School in collaboration with the school and approved by the principal.

THE Wentworth police successfully conducted a search operation at Umbilo Secondary School on Wednesday morning, February 9. The operation was in collaboration with the school and approved by the principal.

With the aid of various teachers, the station’s visible policing unit, led by Lieutenant Colonel Clive Myburg, four classes were searched at random.

“About 100 learners were searched and no illegal items, substances nor dangerous items were found. The search was well received by the school principal and teachers,” said Captain Mbuso Gumede of Wentworth police.

He added that school searches are always conducted in consultation with the principal. To have such carried out at your school, contact social crime prevention officers Warrant Officer Krishna Nair or Sergeant Natasha Mei both either on 079 500 1220 or 031 451 6232.
