Twilight bowls kick off at Bluff Bowling Club

The club was fortunate enough to recently host the twilight trips competition after past cancellations.

BLUFF Bowling Club’s (BBC) week began with the men’s social bowls game. It was an enjoyable day, where fun was had by all, and culminated with the resident braai masters cooking up an awesome meal for all.

Following that, the women’s novices battled it out in the 2022 singles novice final. The eventual winner was Daphne Fortuin who beat Janine Stadler 21-18.

Good weather conditions prevailed and the much anticipated twilight trips commenced. The series began in humid, muggy conditions, with two games of seven ends being played.

The 2022 women’s drawn four’s final was played in very hot conditions. The team of Sarie Bisset, Wendy Fleetwood, Jay Retief and Dierdre Koekemoer beat Elize Stapelberg, Janice Rodgers, Daphne Fortuin and Glynis Mackrory 24-16 with some good bowls being played. Player of the match was Daphne Fortuin.

The week ended on Sunday with several teams participating in the Port Natal trips. Congratulations to those who went through to the next round.

Looking at the week ahead the second round of twilight trips will be played on Friday, February 18, and by the looks of things this is going to be a keenly contested series.

Saturday, February 19, is tabs in for members to enjoy and build club and team spirit.

The club is also hosting the East Coast bowls 2-4-2 newbie pairs on Saturday, February 26, which is a great initiative for new bowlers with less than four years’ experience, with prizes to the value of R1 000 to be won.
