Take note: Planned power outage to affect certain areas

Electricity supply will be interrupted on Saturday, 12 February from 10:00 to 14:00.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has issued a notice for a planned power outage for Saturday, February 12. The City said the outage was necessary so as to repair damaged cables.

It advised that the 132kV cables between Solomon Mahlangu Drive sub-station and Rossburgh sub-station were damaged by third party contractors on Friday, January 28.

The municipality’s spokesperson, Lindiwe Khuzwayo said temporary measures were used in the interim.

“eThekwini Municipality implemented a non-standard configuration to temporarily restore supply to affected customers.

“Permanent repairs of the high voltage cables have been completed and it is now urgently required to normalise the electrical network. Therefore, it is necessary to interrupt the electricity supply,” she said.

 

 

The following areas will be affected:
• Island View
• Bayhead
• Bluff
• Wentworth
• Brighton Beach
• Jacobs
• Edwin Swales
