Wheelchair project makes 60th donation

Ward 64 OSS secretary, Neil Axford, penned a tribute of gratitude to sponsors.

A WHEELCHAIR is more than just a mobility aid to its user, it is freedom and independence. Monday, January 24, was a special day for a Wentworth team who acquire and donate wheelchairs to those in need.

They reached a milestone of a 60th wheelchair donation. Ward 64 OSS secretary, Neil Axford, penned a tribute of gratitude to sponsors.

He recalled starting the programme in 2019 when many doubted its subsequent potential to change lives. He said he is forever grateful and thankful to all who contributed to the programme.

“To God, we give all the glory. To my family, community leaders and business owners from Austerville, Merewent and Merebank, we thank you all for making many dreams a reality. Today my team reached a milestone of 60 beneficiaries.

“For us, it is all about the love, care, smiles and relief that we bring to our beneficiaries and their family members. Our aim is to make love the basic foundation of our daily living,” he said.

The beneficiaries are the disabled in the community, bedridden senior citizens, and residents who are ill and cannot walk. By the end of this year, Neil hopes to have made 100 donations.

“All visions start from humble beginnings and grow when you work and operate from a clean and good heart. Please help our team reach its goal of 100 wheelchair beneficiaries through contributing to the programme by donating a wheelchair to our beneficiaries,” he added.
