Celebrating the spirit of community

The event was held in honour of the residents and community groups who stood together during civil unrest in July.

SPIRITS were jovial as young and old came out for a fun time at the Yellowwood Park community festival on Saturday, November 27.

The exciting event was held at the Yellowwood Park Sports Grounds and was in honour of the residents, community groups and organisations who stood together during the unprecedented civil unrest in July.

Music, dance and a range of exciting activities were available for residents including stalls selling the freshest goodies and a raffle.

There was also a stage set up on the field for the live performances. On stage was Craig with bagpipes, the Ningizimu Special School’s band, Jerome Govender, Msizi Shembe from Metro FM, Shed 14, Nkanyiso Xaba (Nkarh) and Yellowwood Park’s own singing sensation, Kirtsy-Ann Stephens.

One of the festival committee members, Chris Lelong said the event would not have been a success if it wasn’t for the festival convenor, Jacques Stephens who went above all means to make sure that the festival took place.
