Love Life gives girls their power back

Love life positions its programmes not only for risk reduction and active lifestyles but also as the generator of empowered young people with a better future.

THE young women of Mowat Park High School were empowered and educated on their rights through a health talk hosted by Love Life.

“Our aim was to inform the young learners on the various services they can get from the public health sector as well as the Love Life Youth Friendly Services where they can access sexual health and family planning services.

“We wanted to provide a safe space for them to learn and ask questions on things that are not often easy to discuss. Statistics indicate that teenage pregnancy is high, painting the picture that young people aren’t going to clinics to access the necessary services to avoid and curb this rising social problem. It also shows that youth lack the information and access to these free services, hence the importance of such outreach programmes. We encourage the youth to abstain and focus on their education, however, we do advise them on how to protect themselves,” said Nkululeko Ndaba, Love Life Coordinator of Special Projects.
