Jacobs tyre thieves caught in the act

An investigation revealed the two suspects hoped to steal several truck tyres from the premises before they were interrupted and apprehended by an armed response officer.

TWO suspected thieves, who were attempting to steal several truck tyres, were arrested by Brighton Beach police  recently.

Fidelity ADT Security’s control room received an alarm activation from a Jacobs business premises on Saturday, November 13 and an armed response officer (ARO), Thabani Zuma, was dispatched. He arrived at the Collingwood Road property within minutes.

Upon arrival, ARO Zuma spotted two suspects trying to climb out of the warehouse’s windows. Both suspects were successfully apprehended and handed over to local SAPS.

An investigation revealed that the suspects attempted to steal several truck tyres from the premises before they were interrupted by the ARO.

“We commend officer Zuma for his swift response and bravery. I encourage businesses to conduct regular security assessments to resolve any vulnerable or unprotected areas,” said the head of marketing and communications at Fidelity ADT, Charnel Hattingh.
