Police arrest alleged Wentworth gang members

The suspects aged 21 and 26, fled on foot and were pursued by police.

TWO men in Wentworth were caught and found in possession of two firearms and 22 rounds of ammunition. The suspects aged 21 and 26 were arrested on Wednesday, November 3 by the Provincial Organised Crime Investigations (Narcotics Team), Crime Intelligence and Metro Police.
 
In a joint operation, the team received intelligence about the men who are allegedly affiliated with a gang.  Some media reports have suggested that the gang is known as the Notorious Hollywood Gang. The police acted on information that the suspects were in unlawful possession of firearms.

Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, said the team pounced on a block of flats on Burgers Road in Wentworth.
 
“Upon seeing the police officers, the suspects fled on foot and were pursued by police. Cash of R3 900 was also seized from the suspects. The suspects will be profiled to check if they are linked to other cases reported in Wentworth and surrounding areas. They are due to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 4,” she said.
