Brighton Beach Police celebrates Public Service Month

Captain Louise le Roux, created a public service information guide to share with her colleagues.

AMONG the many events September hosts, it is also known as Public Service Month.

This government initiative seeks to bring about awareness to all public servants about the link between their actions, attitude, behaviour, and values as expressed in the Constitution.

To highlight this fact, Brighton Beach Police’s communications officer, Captain Louise le Roux, created a public service information guide to share with her colleagues.

She said the purpose of this brochure was to create awareness of the roles and responsibilities of public servants.

“It also promotes creating an informed need to discharge public duty with values, which includes integrity, fairness, dedication, and professionalism.”

“The brochure provides an overview of the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), its functions, and focus areas. Mandates afforded to the Public Service Commission (PSC) are also provided. The Batho Pele Principles are also listed,” she said.

A mini anti-corruption poster and anti-corruption pledge are also featured in the brochure.

“The brochure also celebrates the life and efforts of Charlotte Maxeke. Her teachings were promoted during the month, emphasising gender equality and equal access to education and other public services,” she said.

Brochures were distributed to members over a six-day period to ensure that all members of the station receive them.

Le Roux added that the project has also been extended to the Brighton Beach Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) members.
