Karate standards high at grading despite challenges

Karatekas pulled off their best moves to solidify a clean go-ahead.

FUNAKOSHI Ryu Karate Dojo had its grading on Saturday, September 4.

The Kenyon Howden Road-based dojo hosted the karatekas and their parents at the Woodlands Sports Club. The event took place under strict Covid-19 compliance.

“Were all excited and as to be expected, a bit nervous, probably not as nervous as the parents who always support the children in any of their endeavors. Despite the present situation with Covid-19, the standard of karate is as always very high.”

“We spend a lot of time preparing the students for the gradings, as we are the grading panel. Sensei Sash Bagwandeen and I feel that these events are of benefit to the student’s development of discipline and their character.”

“As difficult as it was, congratulations must go to Ayabonga Mahaye, Luc Mahomet, and Emily Mahomet for an outstanding grade. A special thanks to the parents who helped make this event the success it always is,” said Sensei Dusty Miller.
