Owl rescue welcomes baby season at Crow

CROW came to the rescue at Bluff National Park Golf Club when a baby owl attempted to leave the nest a little earlier than he should have.

THE Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow) came to the rescue at Bluff National Park Golf Club when a baby owl attempted to leave the nest a little earlier than he should have.

“This is a juvenile spotted eagle owl and has most of his flight feathers. He is eating well and is full of character. We are waiting until he is fully feathered and strong enough to fly to ensure his chances of survival. Once we are happy with his progress we will move him down to a bigger enclosure so he can strengthen his wings and practice his flying. When we are happy with his flight, we will release him back into the golf club where he was rescued,” said Crow operations manager, Clint Halkett-Siddall.

The rescue officially welcomes baby season at the rehabilitation centre which is in desperate need of items to care for all the babies that come through its doors during this time. These include infant formula (NAN 1 and 2), Isomil 2, Nespray, Nestum rice cereal, baby bottles and brushes, Royal Canin cat powder milk, long life full cream milk, plastic cat carriers, serviettes/kitchen towels, pet food bowls, cotton wool, wet wipes, gel electric heating pads and fleece for baby blankets.

“Crow would be so grateful for any donations. We are incredibly grateful to all our supporters who always come through for our animals,” said Clint.

Donations can be dropped off at 15A Coedmore Avenue, Yellowwood Park. Monetary donations can be made to CROW, First National Bank, Acc: 50770230859, Branch Code: 222126, SWIFT/BIC: FIRNZAJJ.
