Help Sue raise 50K for her 50th

The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife’s (Crow) senior clinic nurse, Sue-Ann Shutte is celebrating her golden jubilee as she turns 50 years old this year.

The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife’s (Crow) senior clinic nurse, Sue-Ann Shutte is celebrating her golden jubilee as she turns 50 years old and wants to extend festivities to the centre.

Her birthday will be celebrated on Friday, September 24 and dedicated animal lover is hoping to raise R50 000 for the organisation which does great work for a cause that’s very close to her heart. Funds will go towards an industrial-sized washing machine.

“At Crow, we go through on average 91kgs of washing per day during our baby season. With baby season fast approaching, we need to get all our washing up to date. We have had very kind donations of second-hand residential washing machines that unfortunately can’t keep up with the demand for washing we need done. “We have gotten quotes for a few industrial washing machines that average between R30 000 and R50 000. If we have leftover funds or extra raised, they will go towards our dry animal feeds,” she said.

Crow is a Yellowwood Park-based NGO that rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured, orphaned or displaced animals. The centre admits over 3000 animals every year whose injuries and problems are mostly caused by human cruelty or urbanisation. Providing care for these animals is a specialised, dedicated and costly service and as a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, they heavily rely on the generosity of the public to continue their mission to assist wildlife.

Crow remains in desperate need of funding to keep its doors open following the financial woes brought by the impact of Covid-19. The centre has not been able to hold fundraising events and had to cancel its 4oth anniversary gala dinner. The international volunteer programme, which generates 50% of their monthly running costs, also had to be suspended.
