Merebank heroes honoured

The community heroes of Merebank were honoured in a special meeting by public political figures on Tuesday, August 3.

THE community heroes of Merebank, who stood in the line of fire during the recent unrest to ensure the safety of their community, were honoured in a special meeting by public political figures on Tuesday, August 3.

In a special meeting attended by the Democratic Alliance (DA) federal leader, John Steenhuisen together with the provincial leader, Francois Rodgers and ward 75 PR councillor Sithembiso Ngema honoured community leaders for the work they did in the most difficult time in the province.

The meeting was also aimed at strengthening relations between the SAPS and the local community forums. Steenhuisen thanked the men who stood up and protected the community of Merebank. These unsung heroes were honoured with certificates of appreciation by the federal leader.
