Woodlands family receive death threats after stabbing ordeal

The ordeal has left the family scared and traumatised.

A WOODLANDS family is reeling from shock after a father and son were stabbed on Saturday night, July 31.

The family spokesperson, who spoke to the SUN on condition of anonymity, said the father is still on a ventilator in hospital while the son is recovering at home.

The family and neighbours have received numerous threats from the suspects who are alleged to be family members of taxi owners.

“Threats of petrol bombing our residence have been received. We have been advised that they will finish us,” said the spokesperson.

They said the incident occurred at around 22:15. Three suspects were on the corner of Isleworth Avenue and Glanville Road, not far from the family’s home.

“The father, son, and two friends watched the suspects looking into our yard for approximately 10 minutes. They collectively decided to confront the suspects. They told them to move along as they had no business there, plus it was after curfew.”

“As the father turned to walk away, one suspect swore at him and said he would kill him. The son was stabbed in the thigh, screaming in agony and prompting his father to run back to protect him,” said the family spokesman.

“He got hold of the one man and the other suspect stabbed him in the upper left side of his chest. Both suspects ran off after the stabbing.”

“This has been traumatic for us all. We are now fearful after receiving numerous threats. I’m determined to ensure justice is served. We have lived in the area all our lives.”

Spokesperson for the Montclair Police, Captain Derek Vijiam confirmed that an attempted murder case is being investigated by Sergeant Mondli Mtolo.
