PICS: Women unite in prayer for country’s better days

Victory Ladies Network gathered at Harlequins Cricket Ground to pray for the country following the recent unrest.

IN the sense of the mythical phoenix, something beautiful will always arise from the ashes.

A women’s group, Victory Ladies Network, gathered to pray for the country following the recent unrest.

Hosted at the Harlequins Cricket Grounds on Saturday morning, July 31, the organisation said the gathering was guided by the word of God, 2 Chronicles 7v14.

The leader of the group, Pastor Hlengiwe Ngubane said they believe God had been wronged.

“This is why we witnessed what happened in our country and as women, we were needed to cry before God for repentance on behalf of the country.”

“Our other intention was to fight the spirit of darkness that influenced people to be violent, murderous, and uncontrollable.”

“We believe the leadership of our country need the mighty hand of God to be upon them as they lead the country. We prayed for them for God to give them strength and wisdom to lead people of God,” she said.

The event was used as a platform for teaching each other against social ills. Ngubane said, as women, they believe that their battles are won on their knees in prayer.

“We know after we prayed together that there will be a change in our country,” she said. “To be with women of other races made us proud that indeed we are empowered because colour does not matter. We are all the children of God irrespective of the colour, God loves us all.”

The next prayer meeting will be held in September but the women take turns to pray for the country on a daily basis.

“We believe in God and on empowering women of all ages to be independent and open-minded. We encourage our youth that beauty without brains is useless. Education is the key,” she added.

Victory Ladies Network is about educating, empowering and encouraging women to live a victorious life and be able to thrive against all odds of life.

The organisation is made up of women from different churches, committees, provinces, and towns.
