Wentworth youth unite through art

Themed #TogetherWeAreStronger, the Wentworth event was a platform for youngsters to express themselves in their chosen art.

A YOUTH-based production was held at the Austerville Community Hall to showcase local talent.

Themed #TogetherWeAreStronger, the Wentworth event was a platform for youngsters to express themselves in their chosen art ranging from dance, rap, skits, poetry, drama, music and singing and the audience was in for a treat.

“The event was about us, as the youth, coming together in unity and being one as a community. We also expressed this on the poster we put out that there is unity in diversity and we are stronger together.”

“With this in mind, we also partnered with organisations to make this event a success which was one of the ways of us showing unity in diversity.”

“We also believe that all these other organisations have something to give back to the youth and to let them know that there is away out of whatever they going through and that we are here to support them,” said one of the organisers, Langalakhe Makathini, 28.

On top of ensuring all acts went accordingly, Langalakhe and his crew, also had a skit of their own to showcase. In his production, he played two roles – a pastor and a top gang leader.

“I got involved in acting in my church’s productions that have put on for many years. I don’t have any qualifications for it, but I do have three trophies that I have won for best actor.”

“I still am the holder of these trophies for best actor which makes me believe that this is a natural talent that I have,” he added, saying that he is motivated by the passion and life’s change through what he does.
