Join the Cuttings Beach clean-up this weekend
To be part of the solution and not pollution, bring a black refuse bag and gloves.
DURBAN Life has initiated a clean-up for Cuttings Beach in Merebank.
Residents are encouraged to join in on this worthy cause on Saturday, 8 May from 9am to 11am.
The group says it needs everyone’s contribution to get rid of plastic pollution on beaches, one bag at a time.
To be part of the solution and not pollution, bring a black refuse bag and gloves. In a separate incident, the municipality recently temporarily closed Cuttings Beach due to a suspected sewerage surcharge that the city is currently addressing.
eThekwini Municipality’s spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said that residents are also advised that no swimming or fishing (all forms) will be allowed at the north and south ends of the Umlazi Canal.
“We apologise for the inconvenience. Residents will be notified of any changes in due course,” he added. For more information on the clean-up, call or WhatsApp Rudolf Nezar on 063-665-7763.
