Montclair crime in brief

A mechanic, security guard and resident were all approached by armed men in three separate incidents.

A MECHANIC was held at gunpoint while fixing a car at a client’s home, on Harbourview Road, Montclair, on Wednesday evening, 7 April at about 7pm. 

“He was accosted by two unknown males who were armed. The victim was forced into the house where other occupants were also threatened with a firearm. Both these assailants removed electronic equipment and placed them into their Toyota Etios and sped off,” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Captain Derek Vijiam.

Business robbery

A SECURITY guard at a business premises on South Coast Road, Mobeni was held at gunpoint and tied up on Sunday afternoon, 4 April at about 4.30pm.

“He was approached by three unknown males who were armed. They used their firearms to intimidate the guard by assaulting and securing him with a rope. The suspects removed trucking accessories and the guard’s cellphone thereafter left the scene. Other guards were alerted to the victim’s situation during a changeover,” said Vijiam.

Carjacking

THREE men, armed with guns and a knife, pounced on an unsuspecting man parked on Leicester Road, Mobeni on Thursday, 1 April at about 11am.

“The victim was stationary in his Isuzu bakkie when he was confronted. The victim was physically threatened and forced into the rear of his double cab. They sped off with him and left him in Umlazi locked inside his bakkie, until the Metro Police arrived and found him. He was stripped of personal belongings,” said Vijiam.
