Help detectives crack some of these unsolved crimes.

A CASE of business robbery was filed with the Montclair police following the assault of the manager of a retail store on Friday, 15 January at about 2.30pm.

The store situated on Grimsby Road, Mobeni was opened for business as usual, when the complainant was accosted by two unknown men who pointed a firearm at her and demanded cash.

“She then informed them she was not in possession of the keys to the safe. She was immediately assaulted by one of the suspects, while the other was busy with a staff member removing cash from the till. The suspects made their getaway with a large amount of cash and cell phones,” said communications officer, Captain Derek Vijiam.

A BUSINESS robbery investigation is underway after armed men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from the Post Office on Thursday, 14 January at about 10.05am.

“The complainant was sanitising clients at the entrance, when he was approached by three unknown men. They pointed firearms at him and physically pushed him inside the Post Office. While inside, a suspect armed with a hammer broke the glass door of the manager’s office and entered.”

“They then demanded cash. After getting hold of a large amount, they made their getaway in a silver Toyota Etios. The case is being investigated by Captain M Panday from the director of priority crime investigation (DPCI),” Captain Vijiam said.  

 

A CARJACKING case was opened with the Montclair police on Wednesday, 13 January after a man was jammed and held at gunpoint in his car. “At about 7.30am the victim was in his vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, stationary on one side of the road. An unknown vehicle with its occupants blocked his path of travel.”

“Two men alighted from the vehicle with firearms and pointed them at the victim. They demanded that he get out, which he did. The two suspects got into the victim’s vehicle and drove off in an unknown direction. Detective-Sergeant Sifiso Selby Shezi attended to the scene,” said Captain Vijiam.

 

A MAN was found in possession of cocaine at a stop and search station on Trent Road, Clairwood, on Saturday, 16 January at about 1pm.

“Constable Ryan Raw was performing crime prevention duties in regulation uniform. While executing his duties he came across a man, whom he searched and found to be in possession of cocaine in white plastic. The officer arrested the accused and detained him at SAPS Montclair. He was charged and appeared in Wentworth Magistrates Court on Monday, 18 January,” said Captain Vijiam.

 

A MAN was arrested after he was found in possession of heroin on Saturday, 16 January.

“Constable Maxwell Mtolo was performing crime prevention duties in regulation uniform. While executing his duties on Maharaj Road, he came across a man, whom he searched and found to be in possession of heroin. The officer arrested the accused and detained him at SAPS Montclair. He was charged and appeared in the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 January,” said Captain Vijiam.  

 

A CABLE thief ran out of his luck after he was nabbed in the act on Saturday, 16 January at about 12.30pm on Crew Road, Mobeni.

“The victim was performing his duties on when he witnessed a man stealing copper cables. He pursued the suspect who ran into a thick bush near a fence. On continuing with his pursuit, he found this individual just outside the fence hiding among the shrubs and thick bushy trees. The suspect was arrested and detained at SAPS Montclair,” said Captain Vijiam.

The man was charged and appeared before Wentworth Magistrates Court on Monday, 18 January.  

DETECTIVES are trying to piece together a case of attempted murder after a man and his shop was under attack on Saturday, 16 January at about 7.30pm.

“The victim was seated in his vehicle, a bakkie, on South Coast Road, Clairwood in front of his shop. He was surprised by the sound of a firearm going off followed by the shattering of his front passenger window. The victim in a state of shock jumped out of his vehicle and took cover for his safety. He has no idea who and why this attack took place,” said Captain Vijiam.
