Man pinned to wall in freak accident in critical condition

The man believed to be in his 30s, was pinned between a car and wall after the driver of the vehicle lost control.

A MAN was airlifted this morning Friday, 8 January, after sustaining critical injuries in a freak accident, paramedics said.
 
Rescue Care Paramedics along with Red Line Response ambulance services, responded to reports of the accident on Beechgate Crescent, Amanzimtoti.
 
Spokesperson for the rescue group, Sheldon Lombard, said the man, believed to be in his 30s, was pinned between a car and wall after the driver of the vehicle lost control.
 
“Upon the arrival of paramedics, the patient was found to have been freed and was lying next to the vehicle involved. Further assessments revealed that the patient sustained critical injuries and required Advanced Life Support care. Due the nature of the patient’s injuries the Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter was activated to airlift the patient to a specialist facility,” he said.
 
The driver of the vehicle involved was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
