Lend a helping hand to Crow this festive season

The Yellowwood Park NGO is need of a few items to see them through the festive season in order to carry out their crucial work in caring for wildlife.

WITH Christmas just around the corner, why not consider leaving a little something for our local wildlife in need at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow)?

The Yellowwood Park based NGO is need of a few items to see them through the festive season in order to carry out their crucial work in caring for wildlife. Everyday household items such as dishwashing liquid, washing powder, hand sanitiser, bleach, towels, baby blankets, litter trays, kitchen towels, toilet paper and newspapers are a great need.

“Shell and kiddies pools are also great for our baby monkeys and small goslings all benefit from taking a dip in the pool and with the sweltering Durban heat around the corner, it will be vital to give our swimming animal patients a good outlet for energy and cooling down.

“We also need long life milk, Alpi goat milk, Isomil infant milk formula, rolled oats, bird seeds and kitten milk (Royal Canin). Other appliances that we need are heating pads/ warming mat, two-point plugs, adapters, litter trays, scrubbing brushes, veg chopper, kitchen knives and 1ml syringes,” said Crow communications officer, Alex Kogl.

Crow Clinic nurse Zoe Dougall feeds a recovering duiker lamb that is just two to three weeks old.

For 40 years, Crow has been rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing injured, orphaned or displaced animals. The centre admits over 3000 animals every year whose injuries and problems are mostly caused by human cruelty or urbanisation. Providing care for these animals is a specialised, dedicated and costly service and as a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, they heavily rely on the generosity of the public to continue their mission to assist wildlife.

Donations can be dropped off at 15A Coedmore Avenue, Yellowwood Park. For more information, call 031 462 1127.
