THE Association of and for Persons with Disabilities (APD) held a placard demonstration to commemorate International Day for Persons with Disabilities on Tuesday, 1 December.

APD KZN was supported by other stakeholders including Merewent Cheshire Home, Wentworth police members of Social Development, The Association for the Aged (TAFTA), Wentworth Victim Friendly Centre, Malibongwe and the Little David Educare Centre.

The event was held under the theme “Building Back Better” in the Wentworth area. The purpose was to promote the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

16 Days of Activism against Gender based violence was also highlighted to bring about awareness on challenges faced by the vulnerable sectors of society.
