Meet ANC’s ward 66 by-elections representative

Louise Emser her candidacy for the second time following the 2006 by-elections.

ANOTHER contestant in the Bluff’s hot seat is Louise Emser, whose candidacy is endorsed by the African National Congress (ANC).

As a resident of ward 66 since 1973, she has been actively involved in community affairs on the Bluff, as well as being a member of environmental and civic forums.

Politics is nothing new to her as she was the ANC candidate for the ward 66 constituency in 2006.

“Community matters lie close to my heart and I have worked hard to ensure that it, as well as business matters or issues, are not only heard but acted upon. I am a deeply caring person who believes that positive change can be effected from within.

“We have many issues affecting our ward, especially crime, alcoholism and drug abuse, gender-based violence, unemployment, environmental and infrastructure degradation, and homelessness. These issues must not just be spoken about, but concrete action needs to be taken which I believe will restore hope and certainty,” she said.

Her community activism extended an olive branch to the membership of the Sapref and Engen Community Liaison Forums and serving as the chairperson of the Jacobs/ Southern Area Committee of the Durban Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she has also been a member of different Bluff Ratepayers’ Associations since 1999.

“I have had the privilege of serving as a former executive member on the Bluff Community Policing Forum, South Durban Basin Community Environmental Alliance, and as a member on the Bluff Clinic Committee. As a person of vision, action and perseverance it would be my honour to serve you,” Louise added.
