Cricket to start with big hits

There will be three matches taking place every weekend – one on Saturday afternoon, one on Sunday morning and one on Sunday afternoon, until December.

BLUFF cricketers are getting ready to pad up for an official start to the delayed 2020 season.

Six senior teams will participate in a T20 format tournament for six consecutive weeks, starting on Saturday, 31 October. There will be three matches taking place every weekend – one on Saturday afternoon, one on Sunday morning and one on Sunday afternoon, until December.

Players to make up the teams will be from the Bluff, Yellowwood Park, Wanderers, Woodlands and Montclair. The morning match will start at 9am and 1.30pm in the afternoon.

All the action happens at Lt King Park, situated in Smith Drive in Fynnlands. The league is set to start on the first weekend of the new year.

Cricket, like all other sports, was not permitted to be played due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, and the league will be condensed to finish in March.

Clubs were not permitted to engage in any official cricket matches nor practices during the current lockdown phase until the T20 tournament kicks off this weekend.

Spectators are urged to head down to the park and support the matches.
