Tafta reports five Covid-19 recoveries

The organisation continues to monitor those elders who are positive and is working with the Department of Health to screen and test those elders identified as high risk.

THE Association for the Aged (Tafta) has reported a total of 26 positive cases (21 elders and five staff members) to date.

“Of the 26 recorded cases, five of our first cases have fully recovered from the virus, and we have suffered one loss at Tafta on Ridge. We’re extremely happy to report that our second elder who contracted the virus at Tafta on Ridge is faring so well that he says he feels ‘almost back to normal’ and has tested negative. We thank his family for getting involved in his recovery, and motivating him to push through the worst part of his illness,” said Tafta CEO Femada Shamam.

The organisation continues to monitor those elders who are positive and is working with the Department of Health to screen and test those elders identified as high risk. “Please continue to keep our elders in prayer,” added Shamam.

If you are able to assist Tafta with the ongoing containment of the virus, either through a sponsorship of disposable containers (used to feed elders in isolation) or donations towards their ever-increasing care costs, visit www.tafta.org.za

If you have any queries regarding friends or family members residing at the impacted facilities, contact the management team of the home or email intake@tafta.org.za
