Police investigate local crimes

Officers are looking to make more arrests in the latest crime briefs.

BRIGHTON Beach police are investigating a case of culpable homicide, following the death of a man knocked by a truck in Clairwood on Wednesday, 29 July.
“A pedestrian was knocked by a truck at the corners of Horsham and Sirdar roads situated in Clairwood at about 10.30am. Brighton Beach Sapsare investigating a case of culpable homicide,” said Captain Louise le Roux.

 

Carjacking

A MAN was driving on Atherstone Road, Woodlands to collect his friend on Thursday, 23 July at about 6.30am. While stationary, the driver was accosted by an unknown man who approached the driver’s side door with a firearm pointed at him.

“The assailant sprayed some substance into the eye of the victim blinding him momentarily. The suspect jumped into the vehicle and drove off. The scene was attended by the Montclair Trio Crimes Unit. The members followed up on leads, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of the stolen vehicle,” said communications officer, Captain Derek Vijiam.

He added that investigations are ongoing and more arrests are imminent.
