Immigration is not the answer [LETTER]

The point that I want to make, however, is that their situation is a global occurrence and they are decidedly not alone in this.

EDITOR – Your front page report in the issue of 17 July refers.
The highlighted plight of the featured family certainly generates my sympathy. The point that I want to make, however, is that their situation is a global occurrence and they are decidedly not alone in this. Millions of families all over the world are similarly affected and if the featured family thinks moving to Australia will result in an about turn in their fortunes, they are mistaken.
Many other individuals running ‘one man’ businesses have felt the severe brunt of the Covid pandemic and the Frasers are most certainly not singled out or special, which the article, in my view, attempts to bring across to the general public in a sensationalising manner.
So, while my stance may come across as unfeeling, all I can do is pass on my sympathy, as I do to many others as well who are in the same boat and equally deserving of similar coverage.
