Grade 12 Grosvenor Girls’ learner tests positive for Covid-19

The school’s principal, Linda Jorgensen said that the learner, who is in Grade 12, was last in school on Thursday, 16 July.

GROSVENOR Girls’ High School experienced its first Covid-19 scare this week after a Grade 12 learner reported that she had tested positive.

The school’s principal, Linda Jorgensen, said that the learner was last in school on Thursday, 16 July.

“All contact tracing protocols are in the process of being observed. The Department of Health and the Department of Education have been contacted. They have confirmed that as our learners are screened every day, and have been advised to wear masks, practice social distancing and wash and sanitise their hands regularly, they should be at low risk and do not need to be tested or isolated. Further to the individual precautions, that should be taken by learners, all school venues are also sanitised and cleaned on a daily basis, in a strict and monitored regime,” she said.

In light of this, and the school’s adherence to safety protocols, class is still in session.

Parents are encouraged to advise their daughters about the importance of continuing personal safety measures in all spaces in and out of school. “As always, every learner’s health status should be monitored for any changes or Covid-19 symptoms and the school must immediately be informed of this. All absences from school must be supported by a medical certificate indicating wellness to return,” said Jorgensen.
