Her history with the school stretches much further back than her career as a teacher there. She was a learner at the then Hoërskool Dirkie Uys and it was where she met her childhood sweetheart, Cois, who is now her husband. She began teaching at the school in 1996 and was instrumental in establishing the hospitality studies and tourism departments. Her three children also all attended the school.

As the hospitality studies educator, Viviers and her learners have organised and catered for countless functions (parties, sports events, staff workshops and meetings, etc). Their décor, presentation and food have always impressed and received compliments from visitors.

Her generosity, cheerful disposition and exemplary work ethic have impacted and enriched the lives of everyone at Durban Academy, both past and present. Viviers will be greatly missed by the staff and learners. The entire Durban Academy family wishes her many years of relaxation, laughter and good health as she begins this new adventure in her life’s journey.
